What better way to celebrate your 26th birthday than by heading to Vegas for your first time?! For my bubba’s birthday, we decided to go to Vegas. Neither of us had ever been there. We are now in driving distance, so it was a perfect birthday trip. However, with our luck something always manages to go wrong. But I think that’s what makes our lives so exciting and memorable.
Let me just start off with the fact that we somehow went the wrong way making the 4 hour and 45 minute trip into a 6 hour one. We took the beautiful scenic route through pitch darkness along the back desert roads of Arizona (and somehow California!). Who doesn’t love driving through the middle of nowhere while coyotes are running across the road? I won’t even get into the hotel situation we found when we finally arrived, ha ha!
But anyway, Vegas is completely amazing! Way more than I had ever even imagined. I don’t know how, but somehow we even made it through the weekend without getting hitched.
There are an endless number of casinos, bars, and restaurants to explore. After a recommendation from a cab driver, we found this phenomenal breakfast place, Hash House a-go-go. Let me just say, ahhhhhmazing! Perfect for the morning after a night out. Or anytime! Turns out this place is open 24/7!
On our way home, we decided to check out the Hoover Dam. What a crazy sight that is, but be careful if you’re afraid of heights! I may or may not have been freaking out the entire time, ha ha.
So things we learned on this trip:
1. Pay attention to the map/directions. Maybe even look it over once before hitting the road instead of relying on Siri to direct you through the middle of nowhere.
2. Stay at a different hotel. One with a clean shower will do.
3. Bring your walking shoes.
Even with our goofy mistakes, we made Zach’s birthday one to remember. I am so thankful to be in Arizona and to be able to travel and explore all of the amazing places the West coast has to offer!
