Highlight Your Beauty.

Even if I’m just throwing on some BB cream and running out the door, I can’t help but contour and highlight a little bit.  I just think it adds so much dimension to my face and makes me look much more alive than without it (and it hides those nasty blemishes and things I don’t want to share with everyone).  I’ve used a lot of different concealers over the years and wanted to share some of my favorites with you!

Conceal and Highlight

Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage in SC-3: This is my love! This is the first concealer I ever used, and I am still in love with it!  Each concealer option comes with two shades, making it easier to create the perfect color for your skin tone.  It provides great coverage so you don’t need to use very much.  I’ve used this pretty consistently for the past 6 years, and I think I’m just finishing up my third one right now.

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind in Light: This is one that I’ve only started using recently.   You see everyone using this one all over You Tube.  I finally decided to try it a couple months ago, and it really is good stuff.  It comes in a neat little tube that you crank to get the product to dispense through the soft applicator tip.  This also gives great coverage and doesn’t crease.  Currently, I alternate between this and my Laura Mercier.  This is definitely a more affordable option and works super well for highlighting.

MAC Prep + Prime Highlighter in Light Boost:  I loved this product.  It gives wonderful coverage and comes in convenient packaging, which is a little crank tube where the product squeezes up and out through the brush to be applied.  It really highlights and brightens, but I found that before I knew it, it was empty.  For the price, it just doesn’t come with very much product.

MAC Select Cover-Up liquid concealer in NC30:  For some reason, I mainly like using this for my chin area.  I feel like it conceals all my issues down there really well,  but I do sometimes use it to conceal and highlight everywhere too.  I’ve had this little guy for a year or so and it barely seems used.  When this first arrived, I remember thinking the tube was so small and that it wouldn’t last long, but you only need such a small amount that I know this guy is going to practically last forever.

Overall, I’d have to say my loyalty lies with my Laura Mercier concealer.  It’s the first one I ever used and I just can’t seem to part with it.  However my skin is sometimes really dry, and on these days, I find that the liquid options of the Maybelline Age Rewind or the MAC Select Cover-Up work really great to conceal without making it obvious that my skin is so dry.

Contour

Covergirl trublend fix stick: This is my favorite product to use for contouring.  I have it in the shade Deep, and I can’t even remember when I bought this, but I use it every day and it just seems to last forever!  It’s a great deep brown shade and it’s convenient to apply and use in it’s crayon packaging.

L’Oreal true match super-blendable crayon concealer: I also recently picked this up the in medium/deep the other day because I figured my Covergirl stick had to be running out soon.  Today is my first day trying this product and so far so good.  It seems to be just as great as my Covergirl crayon.  Both are totally affordable also and who doesn’t love that!

MAC Powder Blush in Blunt: I’ve had this little baby forever and I love it! It’s a beautiful matte shade for contouring and adding a little color to your face.

NYX Matte Bronzer in Medium:  My best friend actually introduced me to this over the past year and it’s amazing.  First of all, NYX products are so affordable, and this product does a wonderful job of bronzing that pale winter skin.

So here is why I love to highlight and contour at least a little bit.  This is me with just a light layer of foundation.

Just a light layer of foundation.

Just a light layer of foundation.

And then here I am after a little bit of highlighting and contouring! It only takes a minute or two longer so it’s totally worth it for me.

What a difference a little highlighting and contouring can make!

I decided to add some lashes and now I’m set!

There are so many options out there for highlighting and contouring.  It can definitely become overwhelming trying to decide which ones might be worth splurging on or not.  These are the ones that I really enjoy and would purchase again, so hopefully it helps you if you’re in the market for any new products to highlight your beauty.

Have a beautiful day! ❤
