Teach Your Eye Liner Who’s Boss.
A long time ago I learned a wonderful tip on making my eye liner stay put. And by stay put I mean it might have still looked great the next morning after I accidentally “forgot” to take it off before bed.
Here are a couple of things I do to keep my liner in place.
First of all, set yourself up for success. Before you even begin thinking about applying your liner, make sure your eyes are not oily or moist. You can use an eye primer if you like, or I just apply concealer and a translucent powder all over the lid and around the eyes to ensure there is a nice oil/moisture free canvas to begin with.
As far as liner, use whatever you’ve got. I’ve tried all different kinds and as long as I follow the other tips, it’ll stay in place all day for me. Here’s my favorite one though in case you’re in the market to try out a super smooth pencil that’ll stay put all day!
I LOVE the Mally Beauty Starlight Waterproof Liner. I’ve never been a huge fan of waterproof makeup, especially on an everyday basis. I just find it too difficult to remove later (which I guess is the point). However, I loved this one before I even realized it was waterproof because I can actually get it off without problems at the end of the day. This is the softest smoothest liner I’ve ever used. None of that annoying tugging of the eyelid when you’re trying to apply.
Now here comes the important part. You need to set that eyeliner in place. Let it know who’s boss. Just like any creamy or liquid makeup that you put on your face, you need to set it with a powder. Take an eyeshadow in whatever color you lined your eyes with, and using an angled brush, pat it all over the eye liner you just put on. And if you want, you can place a translucent powder over this for just a little extra staying power (and brush off extra powder with a big fluffy brush). It’s all about getting rid of the moisture so the liner is not smudging and ending up either in the crease of your eyelid or dripping down under your eyes.
So prepare your canvas, line your eyes however your heart desires, and keep it in place with an eye shadow and maybe some translucent powder for a night out!
This has nothing to do with making your eye liner stay put, but I took a personality quiz last night and the results began with this quote that I wanted to share. Related to some recent life changes, this quote has so much meaning to me and maybe it will to someone else too.
It doesn’t interest me what you do for a living. I want to know what you ache for – and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart’s longing. It doesn’t interest me how old you are. I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool – for love – for your dreams – for the adventure of being alive.
